Friends of Washington County Free Library will meet Wednesday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. in room 202 at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 108 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown.

The group is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to focusing public attention on library services and needs, and whose members volunteer in various jobs at the library and library events. 

The meeting is open to the public.

Hagerstown Lions Club

Tuesday — Bill Farley, general manager of the Hagerstown Suns, will talk about the upcoming season.

He will be talking strictly about the season, and has no information on the Suns’ future in Hagerstown.

Basket bingo

The E. Russell Hicks Band Boosters will hold a basket bingo Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.


Doors open at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25 per person, and include 25 games. All winning baskets will be filled. There will also be King Tut baskets raffled, door prizes and tip jars. You must be 18 or older to participate.

Discovery Station
Titanic Casino Evening to benefit Discovery Station will be Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at Homewood Suites by Hilton, 1650 Pullman Lane.

Tickets cost $35. The event includes games of chance, buffet, cash bar, 50/50, cash raffle, tip jars, silent and live auctions.

Music will be by the Rocky Birley Trio.

Auction planned

Rockland Woods Elementary PTO will hold its second annual auction Saturday, March 24, at Next Dimensions in Funkstown.

Doors open at 4 p.m., dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction starts at 7 p.m. A silent auction will also be offered. Tickets cost $15 per person and include dinner/dessert.

Items to be auctioned include tickets for sporting events and local attractions, theme baskets, home decor, restaurant gift cards and other items. Proceeds will benefit the school.

Basket bingo

The South Hagerstown High School Rebel Band will hold a Vera Bradley/Longaberger basket bingo Sunday, March 4, at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive.

The doors will open at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $25. Tip jars, baked goods and sodas will be available for purchase.

Bus trip to flower show

The Crossroads Garden Club invites the community to go on a bus trip to the Pennsylvania Flower Show in York, Pa., on Friday, March 2.

The bus will leave Long Meadow Shopping Center at 9 a.m.

The bus fare is $32. Admission to the flower show costs $10 for adults, and $8 for students and those 62 and older. Reservations are due by Feb. 21.

Checks should be made payable to Crossroads Garden Club and sent to the Women’s Club, 31 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD 21740. The event is open to the public.

Candidates forum

A meet-the-candidates forum for the Hagerstown municipal election will be hosted by the Hagerstown Professional Firefighters Local 1605, Monday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at Bulls & Bears restaurant in downtown Hagerstown.

Candidates running for office in the city of Hagerstown will participate.
