WAYNESBORO, Pa. — People in greater Franklin County who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes have an opportunity to attend classes that will educate them on how to reduce their risk.
Classes begin on Tuesday, March 6, at the Waynesboro YMCA, 810 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. The program includes 12 weekly sessions on nutrition, behavior and exercise changes. Following those sessions, participants are then asked to attend six months of bi-monthly support classes.
To be eligible to attend, you must have one of the following: Body mass index of 25 or more; pre-diabetes; high blood pressure; high cholesterol; a history of diabetes during pregnancy.
The total cost for the program is $125 and includes classes, class materials, pedometer and pre- and post-class blood work.
