Roy Oran Poper III, 53, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center with his family by his side.
Born Oct. 28, 1958, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Roy Oran Poper II and Ethel June Ridenour Poper of Hagerstown.
He served in theU.S. Army.
He retired from the Western Maryland Center.
He was a former Little League coach and a board member at American Little League.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Poper; daughter, Lindsey Poper, and son, Roy Poper IV, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Marianne Rickett and Marcella Maphis, both of Hagerstown; two half-sisters, Kristi Sollenberger and Annie Poper, both of Hagerstown; a stepbrother, Michael Shank of Waynesboro, Pa.; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother; and a stepbrother, Chuck Shank.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Gary Stallings will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
