Gerald Lee Wenner, 68, of Hagerstown, formerly of Frederick, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness.

Born Dec. 17, 1943, in Licksville, Md., he was the son of the late Mabel (Mongeman) and William Jennings Wenner. He is survived by his loving partner in life of 34 years, Mary Ellen Nails.

Gerald will be greatly missed by his daughter, Sue Ellen Walters, of Ocala, Fla., and the four children he and Mary Ellen have raised, Cheryl Marshall and husband Charles of Waynesboro, Cindy Tibbs and husband Gerald of Waynesboro, Greg Nails of Knoxville and Chris Nails of North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Teddy) Wenner of Brunswick and sister, Barbara Dick of Thurmont and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Don, Charlie, Butch and Rick Wenner. Gerald was the fun and silly grandfather to Kyle Walters, Jordan and Morgan Marshall, Jessica, Stephanie and Dewayne Tibbs,Brittany Nails, and Tori, Daniel and Bethany Nails.

He had a gift of making others laugh, enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan and gifted woodworker. Gerald served in theU.S. Armyduring the 1960s, where he aided in the construction of the Panama Canal. He was employed in the home construction trade for more than 30 years before retirement.
