Oscar Daniel Myers, 89, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Broadmore Senior Living at Hagerstown.

Born Sept. 10, 1922, in Dargan, he was a son of the late John Franklin and Della Albert Myers Myers.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Essie Norford Daughtery Myers, on Jan. 4, 1983, and his second wife, Georgetta Elloise Gift Myers, on Aug. 15, 1993.

Mr. Myers was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He was employed as a salesman with Manbeck Bread Co., later Holsum Bread Co. While in the employ of Manbeck Bread Co., he was the recipient of the first award for overall sales excellence.

Mr. Myers was a member of Bethel Assembly of God and attended Parkhead United Methodist Church.

Additionally, he was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 378, BPO Elks and an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed camping.


Surviving are his wife, Jane Bussard Myers, of Hagerstown; two daughters, Beverly E. Sowers and husband, Steven, of Smithsburg, and Jacalyn K. Walsh, of Big Pool; four grandchildren; a stepgrandson; five great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his spouses and parents, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his grandson, Douglas M. Weatherholtz Jr.; son-in-law, Thomas P. Walsh; brother, Herbert F. Myers; and an infant son.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home Inc., 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. W. Scott Summer will officiate. Interment will be in Samples Manor Cemetery, Sharpsburg. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.
