Franklin County man charged with sexual assault

A Franklin County, Pa., man was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting a 5-year-old child, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Michael David Stinebaugh, 35, whose addresses are listed in Fayetteville and Waynesboro, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual assault, according to a state police news release.

Troopers allege the assault occurred from 2006 to 2008 on Mt. Pleasant Road in Greene Township.

Stinebaugh was being held at Franklin County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Shippensburg man charged with drug offenses

A Shippensburg, Pa., man has been charged with drug offenses after he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at four people Wednesday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Frank Betancourt Jr., 33, was charged under the state’s controlled substance act, according to a state police news release.

Further details on the nature of the charges were unavailable.

Troopers said Betancourt pointed the gun at two males and two females shortly before 11 a.m. on Interstate 81 near Chambersburg.

Betancourt was being held in Franklin County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Woman loses $2,800 in telephone scam


Pennsylvania State Police said a 76-year-old Guilford Township woman lost $2,800 in a telephone scam earlier this week.

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon, when someone told the woman that her granddaughter’s boyfriend was in a traffic accident in Mexico City, according to a state police news release.

The caller asked the woman to send $2,800 to pay for repairs.

Troopers said the woman sent the money to Mexico City through Western Union.
