Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce to host 'State of the County' presentation

February 03, 2012

Washington County officials next week will hold a free evening "State of the County" presentation, in addition to the traditional morning event hosted by the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

Both events are scheduled for Tuesday.

The morning presentation will be during a breakfast at Fountain Head Country Club that costs $20 to attend — $15 for chamber members who had registered by Thursday.

In previous years, that format has drawn criticism from residents who say the time and cost make it harder for average citizens to attend.

The evening presentation this year will be at 6:30 p.m. at Hager Hall Conference and Event Center.

Both events will include a video presentation and question-and-answer session.

"The theme of the video presentation is 'Moving @ the Speed of Business,' and will highlight accomplishments and challenges faced during the past year," county officials said in a news release. "The County’s 2011 reorganization, cost savings initiatives, strong financial picture, and plans for 2012 and beyond are among many highlights."

The evening session will begin with a meet and greet with the Washington County Board of Commissioners and county employees, followed by an introduction and the video presentation at 7 p.m. and a question-and-answer session at 7:30 p.m., the release said.

Those who would like to attend the morning presentation may RSVP with the chamber of commerce by calling 301-739-2015, ext. 100, or by emailing
