Page Winfield Gearhart, 86, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2012, at the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

He was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Hagerstown, Md., to the late George P. Sr. and Agnes S. Clopper Gearhart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Alice Gearhart, in 1996.

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, until his retirement.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves for more than 20 years.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsport.

He was a member of Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 Williamsport, and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Hagerstown, where he served as a flag bearer for the Honor Guard, and with the Last Man’s Club.

Survivors include a nephew, John L. Eavey of Hagerstown; niece, Donna L. Weimer of Williamsport; and brother-in-law, Laco L. Anderson of Williamsport.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Doris Izer Eavey and Jeanne Clopper Anderson; and one brother, George P. Gearhart Jr.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. W. Gregory Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m.

Military honors will be provided by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Monday for the convenience of family and friends. Burial will be private.
