Fire company to hold breakfast 
Potomac Valley Fire Co. will hold a pancake and sausage breakfast Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the fire hall in Dargan.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee, milk and juice.

Tickets cost $5 per person. Children eat free.

Sharpsburg Little League to hold registration
Sharpsburg Little League will hold baseball and girls softball sign-ups at Sharpsburg Bible Church, South Potomac and West Antietam streets in Sharpsburg.

Registration dates and times:

  • Thursday and Friday, Feb. 9, and 10, 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 18, noon to 4 p.m.

All players should bring a birth certificate and three proofs of residency dated May 2011 to Feb. 1.

Sharpsburg Little League will add Junior League Girls Softball for girls ages 13 and 14 with a 1997 and 1998 birth year.

Ruritan to hold bingo
The Keedysville Ruritan Club will hold a basket bingo fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Little Antietam Community Center on Mount Vernon Drive in Keedysville.

Tickets cost $15 for 25 games, including five specials, plus a “mystery game.” Tip jars, basket raffles and food will be available for purchase.

Baskets are filled and some are new designs and seasonal baskets.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts 6 at p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the club’s scholarship fund and other Washington County community service projects.

Auditions planned for Teen Idol contest
Auditions for the Teen Idol 2012 contest will be held at Port City Java at Long Meadow Shopping Center Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at Valley Mall (in front of the Bon-Ton) Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Those ages 15 to 19 can audition. The finals will be held at The Maryland Theatre Saturday, March 24, at 7 p.m. 

First prize is $1,000 and second prize is $500. Prize money is generated from ticket sales.
