A recent “Pint Size Heroes” blood drive at Sharpsburg Elementary School resulted in 41 units of donated blood, six more than the goal of 35.

School and Red Cross officials were pleased by the effort and the Red Cross will provide a “Pint Size Hero” prize to the students who helped with the blood drive.

Sharpsburg Elementary School Principal Ryan Hench was one of seven staff members who donated blood during the Jan. 13 drive.

The American Red Cross “Pint Size Heroes” program is a partnership with schools, featuring students recruiting  parents and other adults to participate in blood drives at school.
