ST. JAMES — Jim Fahey has been named Director of Athletics at Saint James School, beginning for the 2012-13 academic year, the school announced in a press release Tuesday.
The Hagerstown resident replaces Chris Milmoe, who will continue to serve as the Saints’ AD for the remainder of the 2011-12 academic year. Milmoe has decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration.
Fahey has been the Saints’ JV boys basketball coach for the past six years. His two children — Austin and Madison — attend Saint James, and wife Sue helps with the school’s strength and conditioning program.
“It’s a new chapter of my life and one that I am looking forward to because I will be able to work in a profession that is my true passion: Athletics,” Fahey said in the release. “The life lessons that athletics teach, especially at a school like Saint James … it is a tremendous opportunity, and one that I don’t take lightly.”
Fahey attended North Hagerstown High School as a freshman and sophomore and played football before attending St. Maria Goretti during his junior year where he played basketball. He returned to North for his senior year and another year of football.
Fahey graduated from Shippensburg University in 1988 with a B.A. in Business. He became a starting cornerback for the Red Raider football team in his senior year after being a walk-on player and a member of the scout team for two seasons.
Fahey was owner and general manager of Hub City Builders, a business he built in 1991, and was twice recognized as “Builder of the Year” by the Home Builders’ Association.
He was the varsity boys basketball coach at Grace Academy for three years prior to his arrival at Saint James.
