January 31, 2012

A pregnant Hagerstown woman injured in a traffic accident in Halfway Saturday died Tuesday afternoon at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Medical Center in Baltimore, according to a hospital spokesman.

Beth Ann Faulder, 26, of Glenside Avenue, was 22 weeks pregnant, Washington County Sheriff Douglas Mullendore said.

Mullendore said Faulder was driving a Nissan Sentra at about 4 p.m. Saturday when she pulled from Oak Ridge Drive onto Halfway Boulevard into the path of a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Dixie Lee Pierce, 32, of Hagerstown.

The Sentra was struck on the driver’s side, he said.

Faulder and Pierce were taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Mullendore said.

Faulder was later flown to shock trauma.

Pierce was treated and released Saturday night.
