Eastern Panhandle Home Builders Association honors members' contributions

The Eastern Panhandle Home Builders Association, a local trade association representing the building industry and related businesses, at its recent annual meeting recognized several members for their contributions to the organization:

Mary Crawford of BB&T was selected as the 2011 associate member of the year. Crawford is longtime association member, a Spike Club member, serves on the board of directors as the associate vice president, life director, is a member of the marketing and budget committees, and volunteers at the annual golf outing.

The Spike Club is a recognition program for members who recruit new members to the association.

Jason Singer of Jason Singer Construction was given the Builder Member of the Year Award. Singer has been a member for several years and has been very active in the association. He’s a Spike Club member, and participates on a number of committees, including home show, marketing and community service. He is a leading advocate for green building in the area. He has also been state director for several years and has served as president for two years.

F. Page Burdette of Potomac Housing Realtors was honored as a member of distinction for his service and dedication to the organization. He is a builder member and life Spike Club member with more than 100 Spike credits. He has been a member since the early 1990s, served on the board continuously since 1995, including as president in 1996. He is a life director and active in a variety of areas of the association. Burdette has chaired or served on a variety of committees, including budget, membership, home show, nominating and government affairs.

Best in West Virginia Building Awards were presented to the following local builders:

• Best Single-Family Home Classes I, II and III — Apple Ridge Homes

• Best Single-Family Home Classes IV and V — Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County

• Best Multifamily Project — Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County


2011 President JW Wohlever recognized the following members with Presidential Awards for their commitment to the association:

• Chuck Young, CoxHollidaPrice

• PJ Orsini, Orsini’s Appliances

• Gary Arntz, Telamon

• Kathy Kester, BB&T

• John Wilgeroth, Berkeley Home Technologies

• Lyn Marsh Hansen, Panhandle Builders and Excavating

The Eastern Panhandle Home Builders Association is a member-based trade association with more than 200 member companies and almost 10,000 employees, including builders, suppliers and related service businesses in the area. The association works to improve the quality of life in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties through the promotion of economic growth, responsible land development, quality construction practices and reasonable regulations.
