GROVE CITY, Pa. — Kolby Martin of Greencastle, Pa., a sophomore at Grove City College, performed this weekend with the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops All-Star College Choir at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh.

Conductor Marvin Hamlisch, Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the 70-member choir performed classic movie selections such as “Laura,” “The Trolley Song” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Students were selected to for the choir by Douglas Browne, professor of music.


SCRANTON, Pa. — The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Scranton:

  • Sara Franciscovich of Frederick, Md., a sophomore early and primary teacher education major
  • Carolyn Gillespie of New Market, Md., a senior exercise science major

BURLINGTON, Vt. — The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Vermont:
  • Michael C. Barbour of Frederick, Md., a senior majoring in mechanical engineering.
  • Laurie G. Lesage of Emmitsburg, Md., a senior majoring in animal sciences.
  • Melissa J. Meyers of Frederick, a senior majoring in early childhood preschool.

NEWARK, Del. — The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Delaware:
  • Carolynn Ashoff, a senior arts and sciences major from Mount Airy, Md.
  • Danielle Depierro, a senior health sciences major from Middletown, Md.
  • Edwin Ferris, a senior arts and sciences major from Walkersville, Md.
  • Rachel Graybill, a senior agriculture and natural resources major from Maugansville
  • Kelsey House, a senior education and human development major from Jefferson, Md.
  • Branden Klahre, a senior health sciences major from Mount Airy
  • Alexandra Lambert, a senior arts and sciences major from Chambersburg, Pa.
  • Kelly Mohns, a senior health sciences major from Ijamsville, Md.
  • Rebecca Pollak, a sophomore arts and sciences major from Walkersville
  • Jennifer Turowski, a senior business and economics major from Mount Airy
