Two teens missing from Cedar Ridge after assault on staff member

WILLIAMSPORT — Authorities are looking for two teenage boys who escaped from Cedar Ridge Children’s Home early Wednesday following an assault on a staff member there, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Reported as missing were Joseph Louis Brown III, 13, and Dillion Westley Darling, 16, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Brown is described as black, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 197 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, while Darling is white, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 113 pounds, with blue eyes and blond hair, the release said.

Deputies were called to Cedar Ridge at 3:28 a.m. Wednesday, where a staff member reported that one of the two juveniles struck him in the face, knocking off his glasses, the release said.

After the assault, a fire alarm went off in the home, and the staff member saw one of the juveniles running from the facility calling the name of the other teen, the release said.

Both Brown and Darling were listed in the National Crime Information Center database as missing.
