Clare Domer’s ballroom dance will be Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. at Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown. The event is open to the public. Admission costs $5 per person.
Benefit concert
Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Co., 22 N. Main St. in Smithsburg, will hold a variety/rock benefit concert.
The event will be an alcohol/drug free event.
It will be held at the Smithsburg fire hall Thursday, Jan. 26, from 6 to 11 p.m.
Some of the bands performing include Next to Nothing, The Eleventh Hour, Your Favorite Coastline, Seasons and Coxey Brown.
Tickets cost $5. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Sabbath sundown concert
A Sabbath Sundown Serenade Concert will be Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. at Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The concert will feature instrumentalists from “Wind ‘n Wire”; Sam Rizzetta, Charlie Casabona, and Dan Wegh, along with guest vocalist Madeline MacNeil.
The focus of the concert will be God’s second book: “Nature.” Look for the following instruments: hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, mandolin, fiddle, banjo and upright bass.

Health seminar
A health seminar titled CHIP, or Coronary Health Improvement Project, will be offered in the Hagerstown area.
The workshop will provide information about heart disease, high blood pressure, adult onset diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity.
The workshop will be offered at the following sites: Robinwood Professional Center, Suite 122A, Jan. 31, noon to 1 p.m. or Feb. 2, 6 to 7 p.m.; and Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11507 Robinwood Drive, Jan. 25, 7 to 8 p.m.; Feb. 16, 7 to 8 p.m.

Registration planned
The Smithsburg Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball League will hold registration at the Smithsburg fire hall, at 22 N. Main St., on Jan. 28, and Feb. 4 and 11. All dates are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate to registration.
Registration cost $40 for a single player, or $70 per family for the Cal Ripken Division for those ages 4 to 12 and $135 for the Babe Ruth Division for those ages 13 to18. Registration can be completed online at www.slsbaseball.org.
All Washington County residents are eligible.
Cascade Elementary
Cascade Elementary School held the Books for Babies program. The students collected $82 while reading 64 books. The top fundraisers were: Kata Seville. Ms. Yocum’s kindergarten class, $21; Xavier Guerin, Ms. Redden’s kindergarten, $20; and Trinity Kending, Mrs. Vaughn, grade three, $20. The top raising class was Yocum’s kindergarten with $21.

The group will meet today. The students will prepare milk containers for spring planting and create a container garden. The students want to thank parents and staff for their support.
