Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary Club members last month gave surprise Christmas presents to each child at Winter Street Elementary School.

With support from Walmart and its staff, Santa and his elves from Rotary appeared at the school on Dec. 22 bearing bagloads of toys and winter wear for the students in prekindergarten through grade five.

Santa, aka Rotarian Ralph Bartles, received lots of hugs and choruses of thank-yous from all as the children opened their presents.

Rotarian Carmen Fox organized the event on behalf of the Rotary Club.
