Unity of Hagerstown plans communication workshop

January 23, 2012

HAGERSTOWN — Unity of Hagerstown presents “True Colors to Enhance Communication and Collaboration” Sunday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. at the Civil Air Patrol building, 18621 Jarkey Drive, Hagerstown.

The workshop, presented by Robin Levien, president of Power2YouCoaching, will begin after the 11 a.m. celebration service and potluck at noon. The training will help people identify communication strengths and see in others different communication styles. These differences, if not acknowledged and understood, can become barriers to interpersonal communication, making understanding difficult and stressful.

Learn how to turn these differences into opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Power2YouCoaching provides professional development, training, coaching and consultation services to personnel in the United States and abroad.

An adjunct professor at Loyola College of Maryland’s School of Education and Counseling, she served for 30 years in Montgomery County Public Schools as a teacher, counselor, staff-development specialist and educational TV producer, where she produced, directed and appeared in several shows that pioneered the dissemination via educational television of state-of-the-art teacher training for all of the public schools in that county.

Levien holds a master’s degree in education and human development in school counseling from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education/social sciences/fine arts from the University of Maryland.

The workshop is being offered on a love-offering basis.
