Water main breaks at City of Martinsburg water treatment plant

January 20, 2012

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A 10-inch water main broke Friday afternoon at the City of Martinsburg's water treatment plant, causing a loss of water pressure in various areas of the city, city officials said.

The city is expected to repair the broken 10-inch line within two to four hours, City Recorder Gena Long said.

Long said she was informed of the break at 4:15 p.m., but did not know what caused it. Long said residents have reported a loss of water pressure, but could not say how many customers were impacted.
