Convention and visitors bureau sales chief attends Bus Marketplace 2012

January 20, 2012

Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau Director of Sales Betsy DeVore recently attended the American Bus Marketplace 2012 in Grapevine, Texas.

DeVore held sales appointments with more than 35 tour operators while at the show.

Representatives from around the country attended the show. The show is the premier business event for the group travel industry. More than 3,300 buyers attended this year.

Sellers attend Marketplace to sell their destination and attractions to motorcoach and tour operators. Sellers also network with their peers in the group travel industry.

The appointments are the core of the show, which allow operators and buyers to meet face-to-face in pre-scheduled appointments.

In addition to the appointments, Marketplace offers professional education seminars and numerous networking opportunities.

“An overnight visit from a motorcoach group can benefit our local economy by tens of thousands of dollars,” DeVore said. “We attend trade shows, including this ABA Marketplace, to generate interest in our area, so groups will come to Washington County and spend money on lodging, meals, and shopping.”

During 2011, the CVB attended more than 25 separate shows and sales events.
