7 a.m. traffic update, road and lane closures for Thursday, Jan. 19

Here is the list of road and lane closures in the area for Thursday, Jan. 19:

*As of 7 a.m., Traffic is a little sluggish on I-270 southbound between Frederick and I-495 and I-495 in both directions between I-95 and I-270. It is moving smoothly on I-270 northbound, I-70 in both directions between Hancock and Baltimore, and I-81 in both directions throughout the state.

* Expect major delays on the The MARC Train. As of 7 a.m., Train 505 is disabled at Odenton station, according to the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) website, http://mta.maryland.gov. Train 407, which was stopped due to Train 505 being disabled, transferred as many passengers as possible and continued to Washington. MARC 409 will be the next available train. Train 404 (6:35 a.m. Washington departure) is cancelled due to no equipment or crew because 505 is disabled. The next available train will be train 406, scheduled to depart Washington at 7:10 a.m.

* Despite the delays on the MARC Train, Commuter Buses, local bus services, the Metro Subway system, the Light Rail service, and the Mobility service are all running on time and operating on their regular schedules.

*East Baltimore Street between King Street and Mill Street and Mill Street between Baltimore Street and South Cannon Avenue are subject to closure for demolition work on the former Washington County Hospital complex, according to a traffic advisory from the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org. Closure is expected to remain in effect every weekday through Friday, Jan. 27 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.

* Work to expand the intersection of Massey Boulevard and Halfway Boulevard near Hagerstown is mostly complete, but minor work still needs to be done in the area.

* Only one lane of Md. 550 in Thurmont, Md., is open between Eylers Valley Flint Road and Kelbaugh Road due to a mudslide that occurred last April. However, it could reopen by June.
