Owners of Boonsboro night club considering bed and breakfast

January 18, 2012

The owners of a nightclub near Boonsboro told Washington County liquor board officials Wednesday that they were considering opening a bed and breakfast behind the establishment.

Ryan Dryden and Joe Velasquez, co-owners of The Lodge at 21614 National Pike near Boonsboro, asked the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County what they would have to do to serve alcohol at the bed and breakfast if they proceeded with the plan.

Dryden said he and Velasquez would like to build a swimming pool and four small cabins at the rear of the property. He wanted to know, among other things, whether alcohol could be consumed at the cabins and pool.

Robert L. Everhart, liquor board chairman, said the liquor board would have to see a drawing of the plan before making a decision.

Dryden said after the session that if everything goes well, construction on the bed and breakfast would start in the spring. It probably would be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to coincide with The Lodge's operating hours.

He said The Lodge opened Oct. 29, 2010. Before that, it operated as Deer Park Lodge.
