WILLIAMSPORT — One person was taken to the hospital after an accident on North Artizan Street in front of Williamsport Retirement Village on Wednesday morning, Deputy First Class Carl Witmer of the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

A Hyundai heading northbound on North Artizan Street collided with the back of a parked car in the right shoulder, Witmer said. That car was then pushed into the back of a Nissan Altima.

Nobody was in the Altima, one person was in the middle car and three people were in the Hyundai, Witmer said.

A passenger in the Hyundai was taken to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries, Witmer said.

Police did not release the names of the people involved in the accident.

Police responded to the accident at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday and closed North Artizan Street in the location of the accident. The street was reopened by 9:30 a.m.

The Hyundai had front-end damage.

Two firetrucks from the Williamsport Volunteer Fire Co. were on the scene with the Washington County Sheriff's Department and an ambulance from Williamsport Volunteer Fire-EMS. The two firetrucks and the ambulance cleared the scene by 9:30 a.m.
