Sheriff's office investigates two copper thefts

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate copper thefts that were reported Monday.

The first theft was reported at about 12:59 p.m. in the 7100 block of Sharsburg Pike, where copper was stolen from a residence, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

The second theft was reported at 4:02 p.m. in the 12600 block of Bradbury Avenue in Smithsburg.

Deputies said the incident in Smithsburg involved the theft of copper pipe and wire.

There was no estimate of the copper’s value in either case.
