"Celebrating Dr. King's Legacy" contest deadline announced

The Washington County Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will sponsor a poetry/visual art contest, "Celebrating Dr. King's Legacy." The contest is open to all high school students — grades nine though 12. 

Entries must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 23.

 Public school entries can be turned into any Washington County Public Schools art teacher or directly to Rob Hovermale at the Washington County Board of Education Central Office. 

 Nonpublic schools entries can be submitted to the Washington County Arts Council, 14 W. Washington St, downtown Hagerstown. (301-791-3132).

Student artwork (not to exceed 18-inch-by-24-inch) should be labeled with the following format: name, grade, school and title of work

Student poetry should be typed single spaced, 12-point font, times new roman, including a cover page with the following information: name; grade; school and title of work.

Winners will be announced in February.
