John Glenn Mongan Jr., 21, of Halfway, Md., passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at his home.

He was born Oct. 18, 1990, in Hagerstown, Md.

John was a 2008 graduate of Williamsport High School and served in the United States Marine Corps.

He was employed at Tri-State Controls in Williamsport, Md., as an apprentice electrician.

He attended Virginia Avenue Church of God.

John is survived by his mother, Sheila R. Kershner and her fiancé, Brian Starr, of Sharpsburg, Md.; his father, John G. Mongan Sr. and his stepmother, Amanda, of Halfway; a sister, Lindsay R. Mongan and her daughter, Caidence England of Boonsboro, Md.; his fiancée, Morgan B. Piper of Halfway, and her sister, Jessica Piper and her children, Alyssa and Bentley; a stepbrother, Brady Semler and stepsister, Morgan Semler, both of Boonsboro; maternal grandmother, Sherryl L. Weller of Boonsboro; paternal grandparents, Phyllis and Jerry Metz of Halfway; step-paternal grandmother, Harriett "Penny" Mongan of Halfway; his beloved dog, Lucy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, D. Donald Kershner; and paternal grandfather, Robert T. Mongan.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, with the Rev. A. Paul Harne officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open Tuesday at 9 a.m.
