HAGERSTOWN — The North Hagerstown girls basketball team pulled away from Clear Spring in the fourth quarter, claiming a 62-39 victory in an MVAL Antietam game Friday night at North.

“I don’t think that we showed up until part of the way into the fourth quarter,” North coach Cyndi Benjamin said. “Clear Spring definitely outhustled us. They just looked like that they wanted it more and they were ready to play.”

Iman Scott finished with a double-double for North, scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to go along with six blocked shots, five assists and four steals.

Autumn Fisher finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and six blocks for the Hubs (6-4, 5-1). Crystal McLeod added 12 points, six steals, five rebounds and four assists and Erika Kline got seven of her nine rebounds during the first quarter for the Hubs.

Jessica Barnhart ended up with 17 points and four steals, while Alexa Mills added 11 points and five steals for Clear Spring (2-8, 0-7). Sam Staley pulled down 13 rebounds.

After Barnhart opened the game with a pair of baskets for Clear Spring, the Hubs outscored the Blazers 13-2 to close the first quarter. Scott had seven points in the period for the Hubs.

“We were doing well against a team that we probably shouldn’t have been staying with,” Clear Spring coach Adam Hoopengardner said. “I think that our girls are starting to work more as a team. They are starting to realize that it is a team game and not an individual game. We are counting on each other and not ourselves.”

McLeod had nine points in the second quarter to help the Hubs increase their advantage to 33-19 by halftime.

The Hubs led 47-29 margin after three quarters.

“We need to come out more intense and leave everything out on the court, instead of half of it,” Benjamin said.
