2. Knowing 'The Help'

Smithsburg Library will show "The Help" at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the library, 66 W. Water St., Smithsburg. In "The Help," a young Southern socialite turns her friends' lives upside-down in the 1960s when she interviews the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent local families. 3. Digging the dirt

Washington County Master Gardeners will present a plant clinic on new plants for the garden at 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 21.
