January 12, 2012

HAGERSTOWN — The eastern side of Alley 2-60 (Library Alley) connecting Summit Avenue to South Prospect Street between West Antietam Street and West Washington Street is closed to all traffic Thursday.

Work crews from NTELOS, Inc. are installing underground communication cables in the alley, according to a traffic advisory from the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org.

The work involves trenching and excavation in the eastern end of the alley at Summit Avenue, according to the advisory.

The alley closed at 7 a.m. and is expected to reopen by 5 p.m., according to the advisory.

Motorists can still use the western half of the alley that intersects with Prospect Street, according to the advisory.

The eastern end of the alley is expected to close again in approximately two weeks to permanently patch the alley, according to the advisory.

Emergency vehicles cannot pass through this alley while the closure is in effect.
