T&N Liquor raises funds for Humane Society of Washington County

January 12, 2012

T&N Liquors, at 18704 North Village in Hagerstown, recently held raffles to raise money for the Humane Society of Washington County.

On Jan. 3, T&N Liquors representative Kelli Godsey and her daughter, Danielle, along with store mascot, Nikita, presented Paul Miller, the shelter's executive director, with a donation of $1,000.

During November and December, store owners Loren and Blaine Ward, together with Godsey and other store employees, promoted the raffles. Prizes included gift certificates, a Jagermeister cooler and a Titleist golf bag.

"We are really happy we can help the Humane Society of Washington County," Blaine Ward said. "It is all about the animals." Nikita, a brindle Akita, is owned by the Ward family.

Both Loren and Blaine gave credit to Godsey for the fundraiser's success.

"Kelli really promoted the raffles to all of our customers," Loren Ward said. "She deserves the credit."

Loren and Blaine also acknowledged the help given by Kelli's daughter, Danielle, who drew the winners on Dec. 20.

"Danielle was really happy to help. She loves animals as much as the rest of us," Kelli Godsey said. "She wants to be a veterinarian when (she) grows up."

The humane society is at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown. Call 301-733-2060 or go to for information on animal-related issues, directions to the shelter and information about programs and services.
