Robert Eugene Dennis Sr., 82, passed away at his home on Corbett Street in Hagerstown, Md., on Jan. 10, 2012, after a brief battle with lung cancer. His wife and daughter were at his bedside.

He was born in Washington County, Md., and attended public schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84. He retired from Statton Furniture Co. after 33 years. He enjoyed gardening, NASCAR racing, and his dogs, Sammy and Kasey, and cats, Tillie and Sophie.

Robert is survived by his wife, Patsy, of 51 years; and four children: sons, Robert Jr. and companion, Peggy, of Princess Anne, Md., Theodore E. Myers and wife, Angie, of Pungoteague, Va., Master Chief Gary M. Dennis and wife, Cheryl, of Lillian, Ala.; and one daughter, Vicki A. Neff and husband, Terry, of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Essie and Arthur Childress, who raised him.

Robert has chosen to donate his body to anatomy research to help others. He requested no viewing or service.

Donations may be made in his memory to Washington County Agricultural Education Center and to the Humane Society of Washington County.
