Salem Avenue Elementary School held its National Geographic geography bee Jan. 6.

Eleven students qualified for the bee by completing a preliminary test.

Those students then had to answer questions about world geography and were eliminated after missing two questions.

The champion was Taliah Hodges and the runner-up was Jeremy Hill.

Girls softball registration

The Washington County Girls Softball League will hold registration for 2012 season at Dick’s Sporting Goods on the following dates: Feb. 4, 5,18 and 19 from noon to 6 p.m., and at Extra-Innings of Hagerstown on the following dates: Feb.10 and 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Feb. 11 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
