E. Baltimore, Mill streets to be closed periodically as hospital demolition continues

January 10, 2012

HAGERSTOWN — East Baltimore Street between King Street and Mill Street and Mill Street between Baltimore Street and South Cannon Avenue are subject to closure to motorists and pedestrians on weekdays through Friday, Jan. 27, according to a traffic advisory from the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org.

The streets are subject to closure so Brandenburg Industrial Service Co., the contractor for the demolition of the former Washington County Hospital complex, can demolish the buildings facing them, according to the advisory.

Only one of the two streets will be closed at any given time, according to the advisory, Brandenburg Industrial will decide on which street to close based on the work that will be done that day.

Closure is expected to remain in effect each day between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., according to the advisory.

Motorists approaching the area should expect to encounter barricades, detour signs, and other traffic control devices.

Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through either area while the closure is in effect.
