Mr. William Ray Harner Sr., 74, of Keymar, Md., died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at his home.  

Born April 22, 1937, in Emmitsburg, Md., he was the son of the late James Donald and Clara Adams Harner.  

He was the husband of Josephine B. "Jo" Crouse Harner, who died in 2010.  

Mr. Harner was a 1955 graduate of Emmitsburg High School.

He was formerly employed with Castle Farms Dairy and Gary R. Airing Painting.  

He was a member of the Terra Rubra Lions Club and Pheasants Forever.  

He enjoyed bowling in his younger years, and was a great outdoorsman, involved in hunting, fishing and crabbing. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying baseball and football. He also enjoyed life and people, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Surviving are a daughter, Diann L. Airing of Taneytown, Md.; a son, W. Ray Harner Jr. of Keedysville, Md.; six grandchildren, Jessica N. Levine and husband, Justin, of Westminster, Md., Laura Cooper and husband, Jason, of Salisbury, Md., Julie Heuer and husband, Jeff, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Monica Pereschuk and husband, Clint, and Sherry and Sandra Harner, all of Keedysville; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.  

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, Md. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
