Betty Lorraine Zeigler Stottlemyer, 83, formerly of Buford Drive, Williamsport, Md., died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born May 12, 1928, in Greencastle, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Frederick and Thelma Mae Eshelman Zeigler Martin.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert N. Stottlemyer, on Feb. 12, 1998.

She was employed with the City of Hagerstown for 22 years, 17 in the Water Department and five years as secretary to the mayor and city administrator. Prior to that, she worked for the City of Baltimore in the Department of Social Services and T.B. Woods Sons Co. in Chambersburg.

She was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Halfway, Md., having served as an elder and deacon of the church.

She was a past president of the Ki-Wives of Suburban Kiwanis of Hagerstown, a member of The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 in Williamsport and Daughters of the American Revolution, and a former member of the Hagerstown Business and Professional Women.

She is survived by one niece, Cynthia A. Kareski of Front Royal, Va.; three nephews, Samuel Beyard of Felton, Del., Frederick B. Zeigler of Hagerstown and Robert C. Zeigler of Boonsboro; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris J. Beyard Royer; a brother, Clyde Henry Zeigler; and stepfather, Adin K. Martin.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Timothy Leighton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
