Hagerstown Police Department investigate home invasion on Pope Avenue

The Hagerstown Police Department is investigating a home invasion that occurred early Saturday, according to a police department news release.

Police officers responded to the incident in the 900 block of Pope Avenue at 12:53 a.m., Sgt. Andrew Lewis said.

Two men entered an apartment, assaulted the resident and stole undisclosed items, Lewis said. The men then fled the area in an unknown direction, Lewis said.

Officers searched the area using a police K-9 and Maryland State Police helicopter, but were unable to find the men, Lewis said.

The resident of the apartment sustained minor injuries in the incident, Lewis said.

The two men were wearing hooded sweat shirts at the time of the incident, Lewis said.
