Marian Melson “Trinka” Moore, 86, of Carolina Shores, N.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Brunswick Novant Medical Center.

Born May 24, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Reah and Rebecca Melson Robinson.

Trinka attended William and Mary University, and graduated from Empire State College.

Mrs. Moore was a teacher at Freeport High School in Freeport, N.Y., and was a troop leader with the Girl Scouts.

After moving to Carolina Shores, she was active in the Carolina Shores POA, Cooks Club, New Horizons Club, Garden Club and Bridge Club, as well as the tennis club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O. Moore Sr.

Survivors include a son, Thomas O. Moore Jr. and wife, Kari, of Hagerstown, Md.; two daughters, Nancy C. Foreman and James Tamasi of Plainsboro, N.J., and Ellen M. Howell and husband, Rodney, of Sheridan, Wyo.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a very special lifelong friend, Mrs. Mildred Trenchard.

A celebration of life will be Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, N.C.
