Jeffrey Alan Higgins, 51, of Falling Waters, W.Va., and formerly of Williamsport, Md., passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.
Born Aug. 26, 1960, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles Russell Higgins Sr. and Rita Delores West Higgins.
He was a graduate of Williamsport High School.
He was employed by Thomas Bennett & Hunter Inc. of Hagerstown.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of AMVETS Post 38 of Falling Waters, W.Va., and a former volunteer fireman at Williamsport and Hancock.
Survivors include special girlfriend, Michele Grove and her family, of Hagerstown; brother, John F. Higgins and his wife, Cindy, of Hagerstown; brother, Calvin Wayne Higgins and his wife, Kathy, of Funkstown; brother, Dennis Higgins of Hagerstown; brother, Terry West of Baltimore, Md.; sister, Patricia Ann Stum and her husband, Jim, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Higgins Shoemaker; and one brother, Charles Higgins Jr.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open Sunday after 1 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
Graveside services will be Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, with Pastor Ernest E. Witmer officiating. Military graveside services will be provided by AMVETS Post 10 and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
