HCC to host MLK Day celebration

Hagerstown Community College will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Celebration Monday, Jan. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. at HCC’s Athletic, Recreation and Community Center.

The celebration will begin with a musical performance by the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Choir and conclude with a dramatic rendition of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech by the Rev. Darin Mency of Greater Campher Temple.

Vicky Bullett, who played basketball at the University of Maryland and was a member of the 1988 and 1992 U.S. Olympic teams, will be the keynote speaker.

The event also will include a variety of musical and dramatic performances, as well as a special presentation on the culture of the Ivory Coast by Ambassador Daouda Diabate.
