January 01, 2012

EDISON, N.J. — A Martinsburg, W.Va., man was killed early Sunday after his car flipped over on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Akeem Coon, 22, was driving on a southbound stretch of the turnpike in Edison Township, N.J., when he attempted to pass another vehicle and apparently lost control of his vehicle, New Jersey State Police said.

The vehicle then swerved back to the right, struck a guardrail and flipped over, police said.

Coon, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
