Ben Mercier and Kelsie Munch were named students of the month for December at Washington County Technical High School.
Mercier is a senior with a goal of being an aerospace engineer. Outside of class, he likes to follow current events and the political world so he can stay informed on the issues and world problems. Mercier said he believes that staying informed is extremely important in today’s world, and he likes to research issues to form his own opinions.
He also enjoys satire such as “South Park” and Jon Stewart, and being around his engineering class. His home school is Boonsboro High School.
Mercier is enrolled in digital electronics, advanced-placement English language, advanced-placement U.S. history and weight conditioning. He holds a 3.48 grade-point average.
Mercier has been accepted to a naval engineer internship two times and is applying again this year.
Munch is a senior enrolled in computer game development and animation, advanced-placement literature, honors psychology, advanced-placement U.S. history and weight lifting.
Munch is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and holds a GPA of 3.64. Her home school is Hancock Middle-Senior High School. She enjoys horseback riding, playing soccer, being involved with her church, hanging out with her friends and being active in the Hancock High Panthers Marching Band.
Munch plans to further her education by going to Hagerstown Community College for two years to complete her general-education courses and then transfer to a four-year college to complete a degree in computer animation or music education.
