Decorating contest results announced

The Maugansville Ruritan Club held its annual Christmas Light Decorating Contest on Dec. 13, and several members judged house lights throughout the Maugansville community.

The club awarded four prizes this year to the following homes:

• Shupp residence at 13508 Wellspring Road in Maugans Meadows.

• Harris residence at 13931 Village Mill Drive;

• Breedon residence at 13945 Weaver Ave.

• Weddle residence at 13902 Green Mountain Drive.   

The club commends everyone for their holiday spirit, and wishes all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Senior Friendship Club to meet Tuesday, Jan. 3

The Maugansville Senior Friendship Club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Hibachi restaurant (formerly TOPS).  A Dutch treat lunch at noon will be followed by the meeting and discussion by members of Christmas family traditions and favorite holiday memories.

Diabetes support group plans to meet Jan. 11

The Diabetes Support Group at Walnut Towers will meet Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the eighth-floor community room.   

The program titled “Counting Carbs to Control Diabetes” will be presented by Lisa McCoy, registered dietitian, with the Washington County Health Department.  

The support group is open to individuals who live at Walnut Towers and anyone in the community. It provides a forum for educating individuals with diabetes to help manage their disease and to gain support from others.
