New Year's Eve service

Greater Campher Temple/King's Apostle Church World Ministries, 125 Bethel St., is preparing dinner to be served at 8:30 p.m. with New Year's Eve services starting at 10 p.m.

Sunday morning services will be at 11:30 a.m.

The community is invited to start the New Year with a blessing from Pastor Darrin Mency and the church family.

New Year's Day service

Pastor Jacquelyn Dixon and Second Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ), at 65 W. North Ave., will bring in the New Year with its Sunday service at 10 a.m. The community is invited.  

Sunday service

Pastor Sharon Gibson and Asbury United Methodist Church, 155 N. Jonathan St., will usher in the New Year during its regular morning worship services Sunday at 11 a.m.

Bridge of Life

On Sunday, Justin Perrow, a lifelong resident of Hagerstown, will be the morning speaker at Bridge of Life, 14 S. Potomac St. in Hagerstown.

Perrow serves as the youth pastor and is passionate about working with teens.

Dog training

Peaceable Paws dog training center in Fairplay will offer classes in January, including   "Real Life Skills, "Play with Your Dog" and "Ice Cream Social."

On Jan. 10, "Plays with Balls (introduction to treibball)" offers dogs a chance to learn the basics of the new canine sport. It is also a class for improving communication, control and relationship.

On Jan. 12, a free seminar titled "Finding Your Dog's Inner Lassie" will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.

The seminar is all about how dogs think and learn, and why positive reinforcement training is the best choice for dogs. It is open to all and is a prerequisite for the good manners classes.
