Catherine Sylvia (Kuchta) Gentile, 78, of 151 East Side Drive, Greencastle, Pa., died unexpectedly at 8:39 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 24, 1933, in Greensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Vensko) Kuchta. She married Charles J. Gentile on Sept. 2, 1950.

Catherine was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, card playing, traveling and crafts. She showed unconditional love for her family and adored her grandchildren, calling them her "Angels."

She was a member of the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle and the Parish Council of Catholic Women of the church.

Surviving family, in addition to her husband of 61 years, are one daughter, Cathy A. (husband Donald) Barnes, State Line, Pa.; three sons, Charles D. (wife Sarah) Gentile, Greencastle, Pa., Robert L. Gentile, Greencastle, Ronald E. (wife Sheryl) Gentile, State Line; seven grandchildren, Michael Gentile, David Gentile, Jennifer Kerlin, Lori Barnes, Julie Earley, Lisa Fridgen and Nicole Gentile; six great-grandchildren, Tristan, Chase, Riley, Austin, Alex and Adam; four sisters, Rose Miller, Latrobe, Pa., Mary Morris, Lakeland, Fla., Theresa Greenawalt, Ohio, and Josephine Mazzoni, New Alexander, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and two infant sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 2, at 10 a.m. at the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, with the Revs. Dan Menniti and Joe Stahura as co-celebrants. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle.
