Carroll L. (Mills) Hose Nichols, 91, formerly of Big Pool, Md., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the Filcare Home in Clear Spring, Md.  

Born Sept. 23, 1920, in Williamsport, Md., she was the daughter of the late Garrett Clymer Mills and Sallie Elizabeth Swandol Mills.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Abraham Hose, in 1987 and her second husband, Irwin Alvis Nichols, in 1991.

She was a member of Hilltop Christian Fellowship of Clear Spring, and graduated from Clear Spring High School and Hagerstown Business College. She worked at Fairchild, Reuben Darby Co. and the Washington County Health Department, retiring after 21 years from the Maryland Correctional Training Center as secretary to the warden.  

She is survived by one son, George A. Hose Jr.; three daughters, Susan C. Miller, Brenda L. Seek and Sally Ann Hose; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Philip L. "Bunk" Mills, Charles E. "Bud" Mills and Garrett C. "Hank" Mills; one sister, Freda F. Trumpower; and infant twin sister, Mary E.V. Mills, and brother, Garrett C. Mills Jr.

At her request, there will be no viewing or visitation. Burial was held at the convenience of the family at the Parkhead Cemetery in Big Pool.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Den Espinosa who so lovingly cared for our mother in her home for four years. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations be made to the Hilltop Christian Fellowship, P.O. Box 346, Clear Spring, MD. 21722 or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD. 21740.

Arrangements have entrusted to the Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring.
