Washington County Free Library hosts picture book contest

In celebration of Children's Book Week —May 7 to 13 — Washington County Free Library invites local residents to write and illustrate a children's picture book.

The 2012 Easy Picture Book Writing Contest is open to all writers from second grade to adult. Entrants must be residents of Washington County or have a valid Washington County Free Library card.

Entries will be judged in five categories — grades 2 and 3; grades 4 and 5; grades 6, 7 and 8; grades 9 through 12; and adult.

One entry per person will be accepted. All text and illustrations in the book entries must be original work. Entries must be submitted to any library branch by Friday, March 16 or postmarked by March 16. Entries will be returned to the branch where they were submitted for easy pick-up.

The winner of each age division will receive a hardbound edition of his or her book.
