Washington County Free Library hosts poetry and short story writing contest

The Washington County Free Library invites poetry and short story writers to participate in the 2012 Poetry & Short Story Writing Contest.

This contest is open to all writers from second grade to adult. Entrants must be residents of Washington County or have a valid Washington County Free Library card.

Age division categories are: grades second and third; grades fourth and fifth, grades sixth through eighth and grades ninth through 12th; and adult.

Each participant can submit up to two poems and one short story.                                            

Two winners will be chosen for each category in each age division.                                              

Entries are due no later than 5 p.m. Friday, March 23. (Mailed entries must be postmarked by March 23.)

Winners will receive a prize bag and publication in the 2012 Washington County Authors Anthology.

The author will also be recognized at Winners Spring Award Banquet scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Homewood Suites Hilton, 1650 Pullman Lane, Hagerstown. Special guest at the banquet will be children's author Mary Amato.
