James W. McKeever, 90, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at his residence.

Born Oct. 16, 1921, in Morgantown, W.Va., James was the son of the late Ernest and Elma (Albright) McKeever.

Mr. McKeever was a World War II veteran, serving aboard the USS Savannah, and was a police officer in West Virginia before moving to Pennsylvania, where he worked for a number of years in sales. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, and also was an avid golfer.

James was a longtime member of Cedar Grove Christian Church in Warfordsburg, Pa., James W. Bowers Masonic Lodge 173 in Hancock, Md., and Harrisburg Consistory.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice Jean (Hess) McKeever; son, James Michael (husband of Beverly) McKeever of Hagerstown, Md.; daughters, Joan Elaine (wife of Willie) Paken of Bisbee, Ariz., Cathy Jean (wife of Larry) Blackburn of Bel Air, Md., and Jacqueline Lynn (wife of Steve) Clower of Inwood, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Fullerton.

Religious service will be Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Grove Christian Church, Warfordsburg, with Chaplain Dick Bernhard and Pastor John Godissart officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, Pa. There also will be visitation Tuesday one hour before the service at the church.

A Masonic service will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
