Berkeley County Council awards bids for roof repair projects

December 22, 2011

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Two Hagerstown contractors on Thursday were awarded three of the four roof repair projects that were recently advertised by the Berkeley County Council.

The council awarded Heidler Roofing a $98,616 repair and replacement contract for the public safety building roof project at 510 S. Raleigh St. as well as a $58,848 project at Berkeley County Senior Services at 217 N. High St.

Hagerstown-based Bonded Applicators of Maryland Inc. was awarded a $9,500 roof repair project at the county's Crawford building. The historic structure is envisioned to eventually house additional magistrate and circuit courtrooms as part of a future judicial center expansion.

Heritage Roofing Inc. of Martinsburg was awarded a $12,980 project to repairs at the county facilities building at 520 S. Raleigh St.

The projects were awarded after bids by Russell's Roofing of Winchester, Va., were rejected by county council after being told the company had erred in their estimates and did not factor prevailing wage rates as required.

Tri-State Roofing & Sheet Metal of Ridgeley, W.Va., one of five contractors that bid on the work, was unsuccessful in winning any of the projects.
