2. A brisk, New Year’s walk
Maryland state parks, including Fort Frederick State Park, pictured, and Greenbrier State Park, will offer hikes on New Year’s Day. 11 a.m. Fort Frederick State Park, 11100 Fort Frederick Road, Big Pool; meet at the Beaver Pond Trail. 1 p.m. Greenbrier State Park, U.S. 11, east of Hagerstown; meet at Greenbrier Visitor Center. 4. Food for music
The New Valley Four from Harrisonburg, Va., will perform Southern gospel music at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Berkeley Baptist Church, 172 Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. 5. It’s in the stars
